Novels, Short Story Collections, Travel Narratives
We are seeking non-formulaic narratives that have a strong sense of place, especially the exploration of unfamiliar place. We are looking for manuscripts that are an escape from the everyday, be it a cleansing laugh, a cathartic cry, a virtual holiday, or even a respite from predictable plots. We enjoy quirky characters, humor, and word-play. Please, surprise us.
Your cover letter should include introductory remarks regarding your manuscript plus your contact and biographical information; it should not exceed 800 words. Your uploaded proposal should be a .pdf or .doc file that includes:
1. Title and byline
2. Form (novel, short story collection, travel narrative)
3. First 10 double-spaced pages of the novel
4. An outline and synopsis, not to exceed 10 pages combined
Please note that we are a PG-ish house. Our contracts are based on the concept of profit-sharing and long-term sales. We also believe in a collaborative editorial process. We will make every effort to respond to your submission within 90 days, but this may not always be possible. Due to the overwhelming response to our ad in Poets & Writers, we are struggling to keep up with all the excellent submissions and our print list is now full through 2014, so we are no longer reading for it at this time. We are, however, still reading for our "e-book first" line, which operates on a non-exclusive contract. We intend to make this e-book line known for quality content and quality formatting. (It should be noted that WIRED Magazine recently gave us a mention in their blog post on e-books: http://www.wired.com/underwire/2012/04/future-of-ebooks/) Be sure to take all of these considerations into account before deciding to submit your novel to us.
Mosaic novels
Size limit: 60,000
Mosaic: novels in verse/flashWe are seeking to develop an appreciation for novel-length stories told in small segments, much like mosaic art uses small tiles to develop a large image. As such, we plan to launch a Mosaic line of novels in late autumn 2012. Mosaic novels may be constructed using verse, flash, or any other short form that employs white space as an intentional element.
Submissions must be sent using our Submishmash account. Scroll down and click “submit” under “Mosaic novels,” then fill in the blanks. Your cover letter should include introductory remarks regarding your manuscript plus your contact and biographical information; it should not exceed 800 words. Your uploaded proposal should be a .pdf or .doc file that includes:

Please note that we are a PG-ish house. Our contracts are based on the concept of profit-sharing and long-term sales. We also believe in a collaborative editorial process. We will only publish 1-2 Mosaic titles per year after the initial launch; competition will be fierce. Be sure to take all of these considerations into account before deciding to submit your novel to us.
Chapbooks
Size limit: 20 pages
We are open to most genres and themes, but please note that we are a PG-ish house. We will make every effort to respond to your submission within 90 days. We will only publish 6 chapbooks per year so competition will be fierce. Chapbooks will be released as “Green Editions” first, then one title per year will be selected to be produced in a “Signature Edition” as well. Be sure to take all of these considerations into account before deciding to submit your novel to us.Our contracts are based on the concept of partnership and long-term sales. As such, we do not offer an advance. However we do offer 25% net royalties along with contributor and review copies. We also believe in a collaborative editorial process.

Sierra Delta Press - $2.00
Sierra Delta Press, a Christian imprint of Folded Word, is currently accepting unsolicited manuscripts for fiction e-books (novels and short story collections, any genre) and print chapbooks of short fiction & poetry. Manuscripts must be written from a Christian perspective, but do not have to be theologically driven.1. Submit the complete manuscript, MS Word documents preferred.
2. Please make sure your cover letter describes your publication history, membership in writing organizations, applicable coursework (degree programs or workshops), and online presence (with links if possible).
3. The reading fee (which is less than the paper, ink, and postage for a paper submission) entitles you to an ebook from the Sierra Delta list. In the cover letter, let us know if you would prefer OFF THE MENU (novella, available now) or ADAM'S GARDEN (novel, coming Spring 2012) by Dana Sudboro, or ABRAHAM by Stanley Galloway (poetry, coming Spring 2012).
